A 90-minute presentation covering the basic principles of community-based social marketing and its relevance to household hazardous waste program participation. This session is designed to provide executives, department heads, board members, program planners, and other key staff and stakeholders with a basic overview of the CBSM approach. The session includes information on why we focus on behavior, a discussion about information-intensive campaigns and why they are ineffective at fostering changes in behavior, an overview of the steps involved in community-based social marketing, and a series of case studies to illustrate the process and demonstrate its efficacy.
