HAZCOM/GHS Training
Abstract: This training will cover OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) aligned with
the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) which is designed to protect employees from
hazardous chemicals used or stored in the workplace.
Objectives: After successfully completing this training, each attendee will be able to:
• Gain awareness of chemical hazards and importance of preventing exposures
• Understand the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) requirements
• Recognize pictograms
• Learn how to read safety data sheets

Speaker: ALEJANDRA ROJAS, REHS
Alejandra Rojas is a Hazardous Materials Specialist with the San Bernardino County
Fire Department. She is also a Registered Environmental Health Specialist with the
Department of Public Health. Alejandra started as a CUPA inspector for the Hazardous
Materials Section in San Bernardino County. She specialized in Aboveground
Petroleum Storage Act (APSA) and Certified Appliance Recycling inspections. She has
been with the county for the past five years and is currently the Hazardous Materials
Specialist III, for the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Section. One of her primary
responsibilities at HHW is training in hazardous materials and hazardous waste
management which include HAZWOPER, DOT, Bloodborne Pathogens, Universal
Waste and Safety to government and city agencies.
